GM’s Pin Reflects the Three Great Lights

By Mark A. Genung

Junior Grand Deacon

Every Grand Master beginning in 1992-93 with Max Carpenter, PGM have designed and made available to the Craft a Grand Masters Pin. The designs of the pins are inspired by the GM’s journey to his year as leader of Freemasonry in Indiana. Several of our Brothers collect and display the fifteen available (some very hard to find) pins.

The Grand Master's favorite lapel pin is the pin Brownsburg Lodge presented to him when he was raised in 1978. It includes only the Three Great Lights of Masonry -- The Holy Bible, Square and Compass.

The 2008-2009 Grand Lodge pin includes those same Three Great Lights:

The Holy Bible, which points out the path that leads to happiness.

The Square, which teaches us to regulate our conduct by the principles of morality and virtue.

The Compass, which teaches us to limit our desires and keep our passions within due bounds.

This pin is grounded in the deep principals of morality taught in the lessons of Freemasonry. Wear it with equal pleasure to yourself and honor to the fraternity.
